About Scanner App

Scanner App is made by Xeplin, a mobile app studio in Istanbul. We build AI apps that solve ordinary, annoying problems, and this one started with a question almost everyone has asked at the worst possible moment: where do I find a printer and a scanner right now?

Why we built Scanner App

Paperwork has not gone away, it just moved. Contracts arrive as PDFs and have to go back signed. Landlords want a copy of an ID. An expense claim needs eleven receipts photographed in a way accounting will accept. The documents are digital at both ends, and yet the middle still somehow involves paper.

The phone in your pocket has a better camera than the office scanner ever did. What it lacked was the part that turns a photograph into a document: finding the page edges, squaring up the angle, evening out the light, reading the text, and putting your signature where it belongs.

So we built that. Point, capture, and you have a clean PDF. Sign it, run text recognition on it, file it in a folder you will actually remember, and send it, all before you would have finished looking for the printer cable.

Why everything runs on your device

Look at what people scan: passports, contracts, medical letters, bank statements, a child's birth certificate for a school form. It is hard to think of a category of file that deserves more care.

That is why Scanner App does its work on your iPhone. Capture, enhancement, text recognition, and signing all happen locally. There is no account to create, nothing is uploaded, and the app works with no internet connection at all. Your documents exist where you put them and nowhere else.

How we build

• On-device by defaultIf a feature can run on the phone, it runs on the phone. Sensitive files do not travel to make a product easier to build.
• Fast enough to actually useA tool for paperwork has to be quicker than the workaround, or people go back to the printer.
• Free to downloadCore scanning works for everyone. Optional in-app purchases unlock more, with no mandatory subscription.
• Honest about limitsOCR quality depends on the capture, and handwriting is harder than print. We say so instead of promising magic.
