Document Scanner for iPhone
Point your camera at a contract, a receipt, or a page of notes and Scanner App gives you a cropped, straightened, glare-free PDF in seconds. No flatbed, no office, no waiting.
- Automatic edge detection, cropping, and perspective correction
- Batch scan a stack of pages into one multi-page document
- Export as PDF, JPG, PNG, or TXT
How scanning works
- 1. Point: open Scanner App and hold your phone over the page. The edges are detected automatically.
- 2. Capture: shoot in colour or black and white, and let auto mode handle exposure and glare.
- 3. Add pages: keep shooting to build a multi-page document, or scan a whole folder in one session.
- 4. Save: export as a PDF or an image, rename it, and file it away.
A photo of a document is not a scan
Anyone can photograph a page. The result is a crooked rectangle on a desk background, shadows across the text, and a file nobody wants to receive by email. A scan is different: cropped to the page edges, straightened, evenly lit, and small enough to send.
Scanner App does that conversion automatically. Edge detection finds the page, perspective correction squares it up, and the enhancement filters lift the text off the paper so it stays readable after compression.
Built for stacks, not single pages
Real paperwork arrives in piles: a six-page lease, a folder of receipts for an expense claim, a year of bank statements. Batch scanning keeps the camera open so you can work through a stack and end with one tidy document instead of forty loose images.
Once scanned, run OCR to make the text searchable, add your signature, or file it into folders. Step-by-step instructions are in our guide on scanning documents to PDF on iPhone.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I scan a document with my iPhone?
Open Scanner App, hold the phone over the page, and it detects the edges and captures automatically. The scan is cropped, straightened, and enhanced, then saved as a PDF you can share right away.
Can I scan more than one page into a single PDF?
Yes. Keep capturing and each page is added to the same document. You can reorder or remove pages before saving.
What file formats can I export?
PDF, JPG, PNG, or TXT. PDF is best for sending paperwork, JPG or PNG for images, and TXT for text extracted with OCR.
Does scanning work without an internet connection?
Yes. Scanning, enhancement, and PDF creation all run on your iPhone, so the app works in airplane mode and your documents stay on the device.
